It is vital, for safeguarding reasons, that parents contact the school personally, either by note or telephone.

MEDICAL INFORMATION

Children receive a medical from the school nurse during their first year at school and from time to time during their stay at school. Parents will be notified about these examinations and have the opportunity to attend.

It is essential that any medical problems concerning your child's health should be discussed with the Principal or Class Teacher as this will assist us in giving your child the best care.

All information is treated in confidence.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS

Your child's teacher may organise an educational visit which ties in with the topic the children are studying in class. These trips are an enjoyable way of enhancing the children's learning across the curriculum.

You may be asked to contribute a small amount towards the cost.

BREAKAGES & LOSSES

The Board of Governors reserves the right to seek to recover from parents the whole or part of the cost of breakages and losses incurred as a result of a pupil's behaviour.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

All pupils from Y1 - Y7 participate in various forms of Physical Education (PE) for at least 1 hour per week.

Key Stage 2 children attend Omagh Leisure Centre for swimming lessons, usually after Christmas in the Spring Term.

There is also the opportunity to take part in sporting activities as part of our after school programme.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Multi-sport, Football, Good News Club, Cookery Club, Science Club and Gardening Club are some of the after school clubs we have facilitated over recent years.

Homework

Regular homework is given at Dromore Primary School. This usually involves reading, spellings, number facts or tables, and some written work involving Literacy or Mathematics. Homework is important because it allows the child to practise what has been taught in school as well as allowing the parent to see what the child is learning. Parents are encouraged to take a close interest in their child’s homework and give as much support as possible.
